Literature Text

Desire presses in upon me like
a cataract does to sight.
I want to scream out my frustration
drive away the cold dark night.
Freedom's a nice idea
but never freely honored.
Force fed conform and compromise
be what they desire.
But my heart was never bound up
by their precepts and beliefs.
Twas my mouth was kept imprisoned
it was tortured and restrained.
From speaking words of things inside
that couldn't quite be trained.
From fear and obligation
my thoughts became obscene.
Down through these years I wonder
if Satan holds me keen.
Kinsey proved I'm not much different
most people are like me.
But I can't ask them if they're bi or gay
so straight I spend my day.
If only I could find a friend
someone that I trust.
I could release all this desire
and tell secrets that I must.
Another uplifting little ditty.

Your poem says volumes as to how a lot of us feel.
